Massively's Interview mit James Ohlen

  • Massively hat sich anlässlich des Gilden-Gipfeltreffens mit einigen Leuten von Bioware unterhalten. Unter anderem auch mit James Ohlen, der im Rahmen dieses Gespräches ein wenig zu 1.2 und der Zeit danach erzählt hat.




    Ohlen begründet unter anderem, warum der Patch nach hinten verschoben wurde:

    "The QA team," he commented later, "was quite scared when they got the list of things they were going to have to attack and address. That's one of the reasons we moved it back. We are going to have it on the live testing servers longer."


    Er erklärt hier auch ganz klar, dass die Resonanz auf den Test-Server bisher nicht sonderlich groß war. Sie wollen aber Mittel und Wege finden, um das Testen lohnenswerter zu machen:

    "For the future, we are looking at way to make [playing on] the public test server something valuable to do."


    Das lang ersehnte Gruppensuchetool wird laut Ohlen mit 1.3 kommen. Bioware ist sich der Tatsache bewusst, dass dieses Tool für viele Spieler mit Level 50 sehr wichtig ist:

    "It's essentially our highest-priority feature that is not going in 1.2. If there is one feature that 1.3 will have, it will be the group finder. [...] When leveling up, like we found during beta, you don't really need the group finder, but when you reach the max level, it becomes very important."


    Wie man Ohlens Aussage zum Thema PvP und Biowares Pläne in Bezug darauf findet, sei jedem selbst überlassen. Fakt ist die Aussage:

    "We really want to turn the PvP game almost into an e-sport."


    Insgesamt hat Bioware laut Ohlen für ToR in 2012 einiges vor. Man darf also gespannt sein.

  • In dem Interview klingt es ja mal wieder nach "wohooo, was da noch alles kommen wird ...". Ich hoffe nur, dass das ganze nicht nur Marketing-Blah ist.
